Lingfield Primary School Association Information
The LPSA is the school's fundraising group and is a registered charity. The group has two main purposes. The first is to raise money for school projects or activities that cannot be paid for by school funding. The second is to support school and village activities that are not necessarily to raise money but to ensure the school and its children actively participate in village life.Fund Raising
During the school year a variety of events are held. These include the annual Christmas and summer fairs together with a Christmas shopping evening, quiz nights, race evenings and this year for the first time wine tasting. The children have an opportunity participate in a fashion show, we sell bulbs for the spring and lollies during the summer. So as you can see lots of things happen throughout the year. How do we use the money?
At the beginning of the year the LPSA ask Mr Gandolfo for ideas for either a key project to support or perhaps a request from each year group. Over the last six years we have funded the following:
Key stage 1 & 2 adventure trails, Key stage 1 & 2 computer suites, interactive white boards in all classrooms, sound system for the halls, pergola style outdoor classrooms, amphitheatre, improvements to reception, Year 1 & Year 2 outdoor areas - fencing, planting and seating together with playground games and markings and finally musical instruments for all year groups. In addition to this we buy a leaving gift for Year 6 children when they move on to senior school. Currently we are supporting the work in the pond area to provide an outdoor learning environment.
As you can see the children benefit enormously from the funds that are raised. The events are great fun and though they can take a bit of time to organise the benefits make it very worthwhile.
Other Activities
Throughout the year the LPSA also supports a variety of other activities including the village Christmas Evening, the Lingfield Marathon, Tandridge District Sports for Primary Schools (hosted by Lingfield), the children's Easter Hat parade around the village, Lingfield Fairtrade, and the Year 6 leavers BBQ.How can parents get involved?
Please come along and support the events. Quiz nights and race nights are a great chance to meet some of the parents in your child's class and other activities give you the opportunity to see a little more of school life.
All parents and carers are automatically members of the LPSA and are very welcome to come along to the regular meetings. The dates are advertised on the school notice board and in the LPSA newsletter. Each class has an elected representative - these are elected at the AGM. This year's AGM meeting is Tuesday September 22nd 2009. All parents are invited to the AGM so please do come along - you do not have to volunteer to do anything but just come along and see what we've been doing this year. However if you would like to be more actively involved please let us know - we are always keen to see new people and get some new ideas. There are many ways people can help throughout the year - so please do look out for the requests for help, it will really be appreciated.
